Free Float: Free float is the portion of a company’s shares available for trading by the public, excluding stakes held by founders, governments, strategic investors, and other long-term holders. A larger free float generally supports higher liquidity in the stock. EGX indices, including the EGX 30, weight companies by their free-float-adjusted market capitalization.
Price Limits & Circuit Breakers: To curb excessive volatility, the Egyptian Exchange applies daily price limits — a maximum percentage a share (or the index) can move in a session — and can halt trading temporarily when a threshold is breached. These circuit breakers give the market time to absorb information and are a key reason a stock may stop moving intraday.
