NBE, Mastercard launch USD Corporate Debit Card for cross-border business payments

The National Bank of Egypt (NBE) has partnered with Mastercard to launch the USD Corporate Debit Card to facilitate cross-border business payments, according to a press release.

The new payment solution aims to help Egyptian businesses, from large corporations to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), conduct cross-border transactions more efficiently.

Available through NBE branches nationwide, the USD-denominated card enables businesses to access secure international payments using Mastercard's global payment network.

Soha El Turky, Deputy CEO at NBE, commented: “Through this strategic alliance, we are equipping both SMEs and large corporates with innovative payment solutions that simplify cross-border transactions and enable secure, seamless USD payments to international suppliers, service providers, and digital platforms.”

El Turky highlighted that the initiative will help Egyptian companies expand their business in the global economy, unlock new business opportunities, and enhance their competitiveness in international markets.

“This contributes to a more connected and efficient payments ecosystem that drives sustainable growth, improves business operations, and strengthens the resilience of enterprises across the country,” she elaborated.

On his part, Mohamed Assem, country manager for Egypt, Iraq, Lebanon and Syria at Mastercard, said: “Our collaboration with NBE reflects our shared commitment to equipping businesses with the tools they need to thrive in a digital-first economy. Through our secure global payments infrastructure, we are enabling businesses to trade with confidence and thrive beyond borders.”

In February, Ericsson joined forces with Mastercard to empower telecom service providers, banks, and fintechs to expand digital wallet capabilities, launch new payment services, and reach unbanked or underbanked communities.
